How it works
01 — Surfing Assessment
Upload a video at the start of the cycle, Matt will analyze your surfing and develop areas to work on
02 — Development Plan
Matt will create a personalized development plan for you to work on during your 12 week cycle
03 — Progression Analysis & Q/A
At the 4 week and 8 week mark you’ll upload new footage and Matt will analyze your progression. While you’re working on your technique between these you’ll have the opportunity to check in with Matt through audio Q/A.
04 — Cycle Round Up
At the end of the cycle you’ll receive a personalized round up of your progress and areas for future improvement.
Why is each TAOS Coaching Cycle Cohort limited size?
Our focus is on ensuring the quality one to one tuition we believe is needed to help you break surfing barriers, so each cohort is limited to 20 students.
What you’ll need.
The biggest misconception about remote coaching is that you need substantial amounts of footage. In fact the opposite is true, at each stage of the cycle you’ll only need a handful of waves both forehand and backhand. Why?
Technique is telling.
You don’t need a camera set up either, iPhone footage is often good enough. We’ve put together a filming guide to make it easy for you to take part in a cycle, no matter your resources.
A TAOS Member’s Cycle Experience.
10,000 miles is a long way, but with TAOS Remote Coaching Cycles it’s no barrier to working with an Olympic coach. Read how one NYC based TAOS member’s surfing went from mid-face to vertical in a 12 week cycle.
How to make the most of your TAOS Coaching Cycle
Train on land
During a Coaching Cycle, you’ll work on movement patterns in the water to develop a maneuver. To get the most out of the Coaching Cycle we recommend that you supplement with land based movement training. This will help you progress as quickly as possible.
Be focussed in the water
One of the most important aspects of progressing your surfing is to focus on the technique that you are working on in the water. Set yourself a timer and during a surf and work on that element, when the timer is up free surf for the rest of the session or continue with the technique training.
